MIAMI BEACH – On July 21, Travel Update readers, sources and friends gathered for Travel Update’s second reader meet-up at the just-opened Hilton Cabana to mix, mingle, eat food from the hotel’s hot restaurant L’Echon Brasserie and – naturally – get an exclusive tour of the property. This is an historic Miami Beach hotel, by the way, that sports a stark, modern look with punches of vibrant color.
Below, you’ll find Travel Update’s visual report. It starts with four professional photos I requested from management; the rest, however, were taken by my guests who took pity on me for having a dead iPhone.
The Hilton Cabana’s 231 guest rooms and suites come equipped with a 42-inch flat-screen TV, coffee maker, MP3 player, large desk with an ergonomic leather chair and windows that open. Some of the rooms have balconies. Expect views of the pool or ocean (in other words, you won’t find ugly hotel-room views here!).

Frequent traveler note: If you’re a Hilton HHonors member who wants to redeem loyalty points to book a free stay, you should be aware that this is a “category 9” – the same category as luxury hotels such as the Casa Marina, a Waldorf Astoria property in Key West, Fla.
Enjoy the pics!
