Marriott International’s JW Marriott brand today opened its first hotel in the Caribbean in Santo Domingo.

The JW Marriott Santo Domingo opened in the upscale Piantini financial district inside the high-end Blue Mall, with shops such as Cartier, Carolina Herrera and Louis Vuitton, the company announced this morning.

Expect the hotel’s pool to be among its  buzz-worthy – and Instagramable – amenities.

The hotel also has an upscale restaurant called Winston Grill & Patio run by Chef Sergio Delfino; it specializes in Latin American cuisine with an Asian influence.

In the 150 guest rooms and suites contain:

  • LCD TVs with Apple TV
  • Embedded TVs in the bathroom mirrors
  • Alarm clocks with iPhone 5 and iPad docking station
  • Nespresso coffee machines
  • Aromatherapy toiletries

What makes the presidential suite special? An $8,000 Kholer bath tub with light therapy, massage and hydrotherapy.
