A few weeks ago, Marriott Bonvoy dipped its toes in the points sale business and offered a 25% off promotion when purchasing 5000 points or more. The current promotion is available until Wednesday, May 15, 2019. My honest advise is not to purchase in bulk, this promotion is just not good enough for that. You can easily earn 240,000 Bonvoy points with the Marriott credit cards (Canada). However if you were a few points short of redemption, this promotion maybe worth it to top-up your accounts.

MARRIOTT BONVOY POINTS SALE – 25% OFF

The 25% off kicks in when purchasing 5000 points or more and translates to 0.94 cents per point. Members can buy or gift up to 50,000 points which would cost $468.75.

Given that I redeem mostly at mid-tier Marriott properties, I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents a piece. So obviously I am not going out of my way to purchase points at 0.94 CPP. However, the price is decent if your account could use a quick top-up for an upcoming stay.  A quick reminder that Marriott Bonvoy allows points advance booking – earn or purchase the needed points at least 14 days prior to check-in. Bonvoy points also convert to several airline miles at 3:1 ratio, plus a 5k bonus on every 60,000 points converted, equaling 25K airline miles.
