Background:

I visited Seattle for a work conference last month, and I was booked at the Crowne Plaza Seattle Downtown. The last Crowne Plaza I stayed at was at Atlanta Airport and I had a pretty bad experience there. Thankfully, this stay was a lot better than that one, but the Crowne Plaza Seattle still had some flaws.

Check-In:

I asked for the highest floor possible at check in, which turned out to be a blessing and a curse. The nice front desk agent said there was a room on the top floor available (34th floor). But, little did I know the bad elevator situation at the hotel, and once waited 10 minutes just for one to arrive on my floor. I almost missed a meeting because of the elevator lol.

The room was standard, and the hotel said they only had 2 bedded rooms left, so I was stuck with that when I really only needed a king. No biggie, more pillows for me!

The bedding was decently comfortable, and the furnishings in the room were all recently updated which was nice. The bathroom featured a shower/tub combination and overall there were no complaints minus the fact that the bathroom was a bit small.

The biggest complaint would have to be the horrible AC/heat unit. It never worked correctly and one night my room was way too hot, one night it was too cold. And, it made a horrible sound whenever it turned on! Annoying. I tried turning it off one night, but then my room became a refrigerator…

On a positive note, the cool part was that my room had a nice city view!

Crowne Plaza Seattle

Location:

The hotel is literally right off the 5 freeway, which makes it easy access for driving I suppose. It’s also decently located for walking, with most restaurants and shops a short 10-15 minute walk away.

Amenities:

There’s a 24 hour fitness center that I didn’t have time to visit, and room service was available.

The Verdict:

Overall, my stay at the Crowne Plaza wasn’t too bad, and the hotel definitely lived up to the 3.5 star hotel level. If they could fix the AC/heater, that would make my experience a lot better.
