Another week has gone by and its time for me to summarize this week’s posts for those who have missed out. Links are provided to each one for curiosity.
This was a quiet week for the blog with posts. Two of the posts focused on Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status – what is and what could be. The third post was some Chase Freedom card news.
Explanations: Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status
I started off this week by realizing last week’s plan to write about Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status. Marriott is different than its competitors in that they have six (and not four) possible status levels. Some of them are redundant and don’t provide much value relative to the previous level.
Since Marriott is quickly losing popularity in the travel industry, I saved them for last so I can research their competitors’ status first. Hence, last week’s posts.
Suggestions: Marriott Bonvoy Should Streamline Status Tiers
As mentioned in Monday’s post, Marriott has some redundant status tiers. On Tuesday, I suggested some changes to the Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status program. The biggest ones were merging the two highest tiers into one and doing the same with the two lowest tiers.
News: Chase Freedom 2nd Quarter 2019 Categories Revealed
Ultimate Rewards collectors were in for some good news on Thursday. Chase revealed the Freedom card’s 2nd Quarter 2019 Categories to be Grocery Stores and Home Improvement Stores. These are some nice categories for many people, especially because grocery stores are not a regular Chase UR-earning bonus category.
Some ways to maximize the categories include large grocery budgets, spring home improvement projects, and manufactured spend. I also provided a strategy for which cards to use when for the 5x categories.
I hope that everyone has a great Sunday! Stay posted for more content next week!
