Marriott Bonvoy has launched a week of promotions for their members, ‘Week of Wonders‘ starts today and runs through October 15, 2020. The celebration is aimed at encouraging travel and providing opportunity to experience the pleasures of travel closer to home. Each day this week will feature a different Wonder with themes such as inspiration, comfort, discovery, rejuvenation and delight. I picked out the most relevant promotions according to me, below, and full list of promotions are listed here.
- Wonders of Discovery
Wonders of Discovery promotion allows members to redeem nights for up to 33% fewer points. Members can discover more of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio by being able to book rooms with points for up to 33% less than standard rates at more than 7,000 participating hotels and resorts worldwide for stays through November 30, 2020. I was able to explore several options around the globe within those dates;
Closer to home, I browsed the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver, to illustrate an example: A Cat 6 property, with Off-Peak rate of 40,000 points. Under the current promotion, 3 nights were listed at 35,000 each, a 12.5% savings;
And 5 nights at 28,000 points/night, by leveraging the 5th night free promotion in addition;
Pretty decent promotion for members to seek out a local getaway.
- Wonders of Delight
This week also overlaps with the previous points purchase promotion, announced back in September – Get 50% more points when you buy or gift 2,000+ points, now through October 22, 2020.
Purchase Bonvoy points with 50% bonus
The 50% bonus applies when purchasing 2000 points or more and translates to 0.833 cents per point – good, but not the lowest. We have seen Bonvoy points sold at 0.78 CPP in previous promotions from Marriott. The purchase limit has been tripled from 50,000 to 150,000 for the duration of this promotion. Members can buy or gift up to 150,000 points at a time, with 50% bonus the 225,000 points which would cost $1875.
- Wonders of Rejuvenation
For members looking for a spontaneous getaway, Week of Wonders will feature both Marriott Bonvoy™ Escapes (October 8 –11) and Escape to Luxury with Marriott Bonvoy (October 14-15) for hotels and resorts throughout Canada, the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. Marriott Bonvoy Escapes will feature its biggest five-day sale with participating properties. For Marriott Bonvoy™ members, the offer consists of a 25% discount on the guest room Standard Rate. For non-members, the offer consists of a 20% discount on the guest room Standard Rate.
Here’s an example from my home city of Ottawa, Canada – Westin Ottawa which prices ~26% lower than the standard rate under this promotion;
Availability is extremely limited while supplies last. Reservations made prior to December 30, 2020, regardless of arrival date, may be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours prior to arrival.
- Wonders of Excitement
Marriott Bonvoy members who register for this promotion will earn 2,500 bonus points per eligible paid stay, plus a one-time bonus of 5,000 additional points after 3 eligible paid stays, during the promotion earning period. The promotion registration and earning period is between August 13, 2020, and October 18, 2020.
