So, how good is this 60% bonus promotion and should you purchase Marriott Bonvoy points?
Marriott Bonvoy 60% Bonus – Points Purchase Promotion
The 60% bonus applies when purchasing 2000 points or more and translates to 0.78 cents (US) per point – lowest rate we have seen for Bonvoy points. The purchase limit has been tripled from 50,000 to 150,000 for the duration of this promotion. Members can buy or gift up to 150,000 points at a time, with 60% bonus the 240,000 points which would cost $1875. Note that points purchased previously count towards the 150k yearly limit;
Given that I redeem mostly at mid-tier Marriott properties, I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents a piece. 0.78 CPP is darn close and I will definitely be topping up all my accounts at this rate. A quick reminder that Marriott Bonvoy allows points advance booking (up to 5) – earn or purchase the needed points at least 14 days prior to check-in. Bonvoy points also convert to several airline miles at 3:1 ratio, plus a 5k bonus on every 60,000 points converted, equaling 25K airline miles.
If you decide to purchase bonvoy points through this sale, note that the transaction is processed through points.com and will not count as a hotel/travel transaction. Best to use a credit card that gives you a good return on daily spends.
